A rare opportunity has arisen to join an established and well-respected Precision Engineering company as their Lead Quality Inspector at the premises in Market Harborough. The company have been in operation for many years and are recognised for their high level of work across the UK and EU, providing solutions to many high-profile customers in the Automotive, Aerospace and Oil & Gas industries. The position of Lead Quality Engineer is a key figure within their Precision Engineering business, ensuring that products are delivered fully and on time, delegating and managing departmental workloads whilst resolving any problem areas that may arise.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

·   Reporting to Quality Manager and Works Manager

·   Quality Inspection of components in accordance with the specification given

·   Daily inspection /  first offs for engineers

·   Report non-conformances and support root cause analysis for corrective action to be immediately taken

·   Deputise for Quality Manager

·   Provide feedback for process or tooling improvements

·   Improve in-house inspection and implement changes where necessary

·   Provide support and management of product issues identified by customers and suppliers

·   Complete PPAP’s and FAIR documentary requirements

·   Be instrumental in managing external calibration of equipment 

 

Essential Skills & Qualifications

·   Engineering background with strong knowledge of Inspection processes and procedures

·   Ability to review and understand technical drawings and specifications

·   Experience of using hand-held metrology instruments (Vernier callipers, micrometre, plug gauges)

·   Ability to program and operate precision CMM machines (Shadowgraph)

·   Excellent understanding of tolerances and surface finishing

·   Ability to work to ISO9001:2015

·   Experience of FAIR requirements

·   Fault finding experience to component level capability

·   IT Proficient eg: Word / Excel

·   Previous experience of working in a Precision Engineering environment in a Quality Inspector, Quality Assurance, Quality Auditor, or Quality Control role

Desirable attributes

·   Min 5 years experience in a similar quality role within high precision engineering

·   Min 2 years’ supervisory experience

·   A confident, team player, able to mentor less experienced staff

·   A positive, can-do attitude to overcome technical problems and receptive to new ideas

·   Ability to work within a high-pressured production environment with a willingness to go the extra distance to ensure that schedules are met

·   Self-motivated individual with good communication skills

 

Terms of work

·   39 hours per week, Mon - Fri

·   Annual leave is 33 days inclusive
